If you want to sign up for a free trial yourself, you can do so easily on the official PlayStation website, were you’ll see the different subscription plans priced at £0.00. Earlier this year, Oddworld: Soulstorm director Lorne Lanning explained how its launch on the service was a ‘double-edged sword’ and ‘devastating’ for its sales. Since it’s a pretty short game, you could feasibly beat the entire thing without ever needing to pay for it, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the game’s sales.Īdding a game to a subscription service the day it launches has some benefits, but it also has drawbacks. The game is presented through a third-person perspective. The story follows a stray cat who falls into a walled city populated by robots, machines, and mutant bacteria, and sets out to return to the surface with the help of a drone companion, B-12. With the free trial, however, even non-subscribers can play the full game until the end of their trial period. Stray is a 2022 adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. Sony announced last month that Stray will be completely free for anyone who’s subscribed to the Extra or Premium tier. It doesn't seem so, at least in the traditional sense. This third-person game is set in a neon-lit cybercity, resembling the graphics of Cyberpunk 2077, another title that's yet to be released. With its beautiful design and long-awaited plot, this title is likely to be much more than a mere adventure game. The timing is especially surprising since tomorrow also sees the release of Annapurna Interactive’s Stray, an adventure game where you play as a cat lost in a world populated by robots. In Stray, you play as a small domestic animal, namely, alone, lost, and away from family. Since this title was so recently announced, there's not much to say about Stray at this point. It's still unclear whether Stray will be backward-compatible with earlier consoles, with the developers deciding to leave most of the details for later. The game will be released in 2021, playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox X Series, and PC. The first trailer came out on June 11th, so there's little to say about the gameplay itself. However, the city isn't as welcoming as it first may seem, some of the inhabitants presenting a threat to your character. While there are no humans, you'll see all kinds of droids performing everyday tasks.

The futuristic city hosts many walls covered in graffiti saying 'RIP humans,' and your only companion is a robot called B12. Not only does the game put you in new, exciting shoes of a non-human hero, but also in a decidedly post-apocalyptic setting. The world is inhabited by other animals and droids, with no humans in sight.

The game features fantastic graphics, showing you the murky city through a cat's eyes.
